Bugatti is considering adding a cheaper model to its lineup, a car for less than 1 million euros

The expansion of the French brand’s model range could mean the launch of a cheaper Bugatti

more affordable

Since the inclusion of Bugatti in the Volkswagen Group, models with exorbitant prices and their alternatives, both lower and higher in value, have been one of the recurring rumours or unconfirmed projects surrounding this brand.

Thus, with the commercialisation of the Bugatti Veyron, the feasibility of offering a four-seater vehicle was studied, equivalent in luxury to the two-seater and with a price and potential similar to, but always below, the model on sale at the time.

The prototype, known as the Bugatti Galibier Concept, was built and shown to the brand’s closest customers, but it did not receive the green light.

With the replacement of the Veyron itself, the rumour mill has not fallen silent and, encouraged by the inclusion of other high-end brands in the SUV trend such as the British Aston Martin with its DBX or the premium Bugatti stablemate Lamborghini, which produces the Urus, it is impossible not to think that this manufacturer is more firmly than ever considering the possibility of offering a more affordable car than the Bugatti Chiron.

Be that as it may, the person in charge of bringing the new Bugatti to fruition is the experienced Stephan Winkelmann, former CEO of Lamborghini and the creator of the extraordinary Bugatti Divo, an evolution of the Chiron raised to the nth power that doubles the price of the car it is based on and reduces production to a minimum so that its pieces become true treasures.

BugattiThe options for the Bugatti

But, once again, this maker of dream machines is studying the introduction of a car cheaper than the only one it currently sells, a car that only a minority of the world’s population could access but which could become the first Bugatti, or second Bugatti in the garage, depending on how you look at it.

For this reason, the people from Molsheim, in the beautiful region and wine-growing land of Alsace in France, are studying the best options to introduce the most affordable Bugatti entry model.

As we indicated earlier, the unstoppable growth in sales of crossover-type bodies points to the possibility that the most affordable Bugatti could be an SUV or crossover seating up to four people, with all the luxury and exclusivity of the brand but at a cost below one million euros.

The same premise regarding occupancy and price, but with an architecture based on grand tourer bodies and an electric mechanical configuration, could fit the requirements and characteristics that a future entry-level Bugatti might show.

But, as we indicated earlier, the fact that Bugatti is studying expanding its range to two production cars does not mean this will happen. Rather, it would be the umpteenth time that the company now led by Winkelmann has put on the table that now is a good moment for its brand to offer and sell more cars by launching more models beyond the Bugatti Chiron and its limited-production variants.
