BYD Dolphin: the electric SUV is already arriving in Spain with four versions and up to 427 km of range
The Chinese brand announces the timeframe in which deliveries of this model will begin. It comes in four versions, with a range of up to 427 km and an affordable price.

BYD, the Chinese brand that has integrated itself most successfully into the Spanish market, announces the arrival of a new C-segment model, electric and at an affordable price, the BYD Dolphin. The company had previously announced the arrival of this model at the Barcelona Motor Show, but it is now open for reservations for those who want to receive their car in the fourth quarter of this year.
Dolphin, Atto 3, Han, Tang and Seal are the five models that currently make up the BYD range in Spain, with the arrival of the BYD Seagull, the Atto 2 and the recently announced BYD Song Plus still to come. The Dolphin is classified as the most compact model in the catalogue and offers four different versions: Active, Boost, Comfort and Design.

It arrives as the first model of the “Ocean” family, with its name referencing the “intelligent, playful and friendly” marine mammal. It fits one of the best lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries of 60.4 kWh, which offers bidirectional V2L charging and an output of up to 3.3 kW, and has been subjected to various safety, durability and performance tests.
It has been designed on the intelligent e-Platform 3.0 architecture ofBYD, as was the Atto 3, giving it a length of 4,290 mm and a width of 1,770 mm and a boot capacity of 345 to 1,310 litres with the rear seats folded. It also features the 8-in-1 electric propulsion system, incorporating components such as the vehicle control unit, battery management system, power distribution unit, electric motor, motor controller, transmission, DC-DC converter and on-board charger.

Two-tone bodywork with a versatile and practical interior
The Dolphin’s bodywork features a two-tone paint finish combined with interior colours, creating a sense of freshness and exclusivity. The bodywork will be available in seven colour combinations. In the Active trim, there are 16-inch alloy wheels, while the Boost, Comfort and Design versions feature 17-inch wheels.
The interior seats five occupants and includes ergonomic sports seats with headrests upholstered in vegan leather. The front seats are heated and have six-way electric adjustment for the driver and four-way for the passenger; on the top-of-the-range version, there is a panoramic roof made of grey-tinted laminated glass.

Enhanced safety with numerous ADAS systems
The BYD Dolphin comes as standard with a wide range of safety features and advanced driver assistance systems, including:
- Forward collision warning.
- Automatic emergency braking.
- Rear collision warning.
- Rear cross-traffic alert.
- Automatic braking for rear cross-traffic.
- Lane keeping assist.
- Lane change assist.
- Preventive lane keeping.
- Panoramic camera.
- Adaptive cruise control.
- Electronic stability and traction control.

0 to 100 in 7 seconds thanks to the Blade Battery
The BYD Dolphin is powered by a 60.4 kWh battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor that enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. It delivers a maximum torque of 310 Nm and a power output of 240 CV (150 kW), allowing a top speed of 160 km/h. The company has made sure to offer several versions of this model so that each driver can choose the trim that best suits them:

- BYD DOLPHIN Active: with a 44.9 kWh battery and an output of 70 kW (95 CV). Combined range of 340 kilometres (WLTP1). It can be charged with alternating current up to 7 kW and with direct current up to 60 kW, and features V2L bidirectional charging.
- BYD DOLPHIN Boost: with a 44.9 kWh battery and an output of 130 kW (177 CV). Combined range of 310 kilometres (WLTP1). Adds 17-inch wheels and a multi-link rear suspension.
- BYD DOLPHIN Comfort: with a 60.4 kWh battery and an output of 150 kW (204 CV). Combined range of 427 kilometres (WLTP1) and combined consumption of 15.9 kWh/100 km. It can be charged with alternating current up to 11 kW and with direct current up to 88 kW (30 to 80% in 29 minutes).
- BYD DOLPHIN Design: it has the same technical specifications as the Comfort, while its standard equipment adds a panoramic roof, privacy glass in the rear seats and wireless smartphone charging.

As for these features, it is worth noting that it will be a standout car in its segment, with an affordable price, very low consumption and notable interior finishes. However, if one criticism must be made, for me it would be its charging power: with only 7 kW on alternating current and 88 kW on direct current, the power is not very high.
Prices of the BYD Dolphin
- BYD DOLPHIN Active: 29,990 euros.
- BYD DOLPHIN Boost: 30,690 euros.
- BYD DOLPHIN Comfort: 35,690 euros.
- BYD DOLPHIN Design: 37,690 euros.
