CareMakers: the initiative by Renault and Dacia that puts mobility within reach of the most vulnerable

Diana, one of the beneficiaries: “I couldn’t always get to work by public transport, and I had to turn down several jobs. Since I got the Dacia Sandero, I’ve become more independent. It has changed my life”

Renault Group has launched in Spain the charity programme CareMakers, with the aim of facilitating access to the job market for people in vulnerable situations through mobility. This project, which has already transformed the lives of more than 3,000 people in France, now comes to our country as a concrete response to the growing inequality in access to new vehicles.

Mobility, key to employment inclusion

During the presentation of the programme, Ignacio Rodríguez-Solano, director of the Renault Group Foundation in Spain, stressed the importance of mobility as a tool for job integration: “More than half of people looking for work in precarious situations have had to turn down job offers due to lack of transport“. This reality was the driving force – and never a truer word was said – behind the creation of CareMakers in France in 2012, and which is now a reality in Spain.

Accessible vehicles for those who need them most

Thanks to a collaboration between Dacia, Mobilize Financial Services and various associations such as Candelita, Aldeas Infantiles and Fundación Lesmes, the programme allows people with limited resources to access new vehicles through a multi-option loan Preference over three years. Among the options available are the Dacia Sandero Eco-G 100 (LPG) and the Dacia Spring electric, with the possibility of joining the MOVES plan.

These special, maximally adjusted prices can be taken advantage of by people who belong to these associations, and it is through them that they will be put in contact with the sales network. In this way, it is ensured that those who apply for this aid truly need it.

Beyond the social impact itself, the project also has an environmental focus by replacing old vehicles with more efficient models with lower carbon emissions. Even the recently mentioned fully electric Spring has been included.

A committed support network

The initiative would not be possible without the commitment of the Dacia sales network and the social organisations that support the beneficiaries throughout the entire process. According to Laurent Sengenes, managing director of Dacia in Spain, “mobility should not be a barrier in anyone’s life. With CareMakers, we want more people to be able to access a new vehicle and improve their quality of life”.

First success stories

Diana, mother of two daughters and a beneficiary of the programme, shares her experience: “I couldn’t always get to work by public transport, and I had to turn down several jobs. Since I got the Dacia Sandero, I’ve become more independent. It has changed my life”. Her testimony reflects the real impact of this kind of initiative.

In addition to Diana, 10 other deliveries have already been made, a figure that will continue to grow throughout the year.
