Volkswagen will showcase the Passat Performance Concept at Detroit, the sporty side of the American Passat. The saloon has received minor exterior changes that enhance its sporty character: carbon inserts, 19-inch wheels and lowered suspension. Under the bonnet it will feature the 1.8 TSI with 250 CV, an engine recently added to the American range, replacing the previous 2.5.
The iShare is a small two-seater electric car created by the Spanish company Applus Idiada, designed for the car sharing business. It is made up of materials and parts that can be easily replaced, so that the car always looks like new. The iShare will remain a concept and, for now, there is no project to put it into series production. The company is also preparing an electric sports car with no less than 1,000 CV.
The German publication Autobild has previewed the prototype that the Ingolstadt brand will present at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It will represent the company’s design change, with features such as a front grille that is smaller and more sharply drawn headlights. Under the bodywork it houses a hybrid system that combines the 2.0 TFSI engine from the S3 with an electric motor to produce up to 400 CV.
Audi has announced the official cancellation of the A2’s hybrid and electric range. The electric model, which was due to hit the market in 2015, had become a project that was too expensive for Audi, and according to the first market analyses, the resulting price would have been very high. Audi plans to use the electric technology and the aluminium chassis in other models of the brand.
The candidate to be manufactured at the Zona Franca in Barcelona by Nissan appears to be the new Nissan Note, although the Japanese brand must first reach an agreement with the workers’ unions. If the Note comes to Barcelona, 1,000 new jobs and 3,000 new indirect jobs would be created. Barcelona becomes an alternative to the English plant in Sunderland.
Radical is about to unveil its new RXC at any moment, a full prototype with a roof that would have nothing to envy from the cars that compete at Le Mans or the Nürburgring. The selling price will be over 100,000 euros and it is expected to feature a Ford V6 engine of 3.7 litres producing 380 CV.
