Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the BMW M3 CSL

It was 10 years ago that one of those cars began to be sold that were already considered classics for posterity before they even reached the market. Improving on the practically flawless base of the BMW M3, the German manufacturer set out to create one of the most radical road cars of its era, and it achieved this with the BMW M3 CSL.
A total of 1,383 M3 CSLs were built which, despite being priced far higher than the “standard” version, sold out in just two months, a clear sign of how well judged the Bavarian firm’s move was and of the enormous impact this model had on the market.
The CSL badge refers to a programme of tuning and weight reduction across the whole car. The standard M3 was turned into a machine of 360 CV, with a paddle-shifted manual gearbox and a weight of 1,382 kg, at the cost of lighter (and more expensive) materials and the loss of equipment such as air conditioning and the radio. It delighted its drivers and placed the BMW M3 above many renowned sports cars.
To celebrate this happy anniversary, some 50 owners of the M3 CSL gathered near the BMW Welt building in Munich, where they came together to enjoy a day full of emotion, feeling and plenty of burnt petrol. We leave you with a video showing the fantastic morning the lucky owners of these machines enjoyed.
