Changan will begin commercialising the Deepal S07 SUV in Europe before the end of the year
This electric SUV from the Chinese manufacturer will, in principle, also arrive in Spain. Although it will do so somewhat later, around 2026.
The Chinese carmaker Changan is preparing to make its debut in the European market with the fully electric SUV Deepal S07. If everything goes according to plan, this model will go on sale in Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands during the last quarter of 2024, thus marking this manufacturer’s first foray into the continent.
Since early September, the company has already had a subsidiary in Germany, Changan Automobile Deutschland GmbH, based in Munich, as well as in the Netherlands. But that is not all: Changan also plans to expand into Switzerland, Sweden and Finland in early 2025, reach the United Kingdom in July of the same year, and land in Spain and Italy in 2026. Changan’s goal is to be present in all major European markets by 2028.

Changan already operates or holds stakes in several electric car brands in China, being the largest shareholder of Avatr, alongside CATL. In the Chinese market, Changan’s Qiyuan brand, also known as Nevo, sells several electric models. In addition, the company is a partner in several joint ventures with Ford, Suzuki and Mazda; and it is also developing, in collaboration with Mazda, the EZ-6 electric saloon that will be sold globally.
What do we know about this Chinese electric SUV?
The Deepal S07, which will arrive in Europe, is a mid-size electric SUV measuring 4.75 metres in length, with 570 litres of luggage space in the rear boot, to which another 125 litres under the bonnet must be added. This model was unveiled in China last April.

As for the engine options, Changan offers two versions in China: the Deepal S07 520 has a single electric motor with 190 kW of power on the rear axle, paired with a 69 kWh battery pack with cells supplied by CATL. According to the manufacturer, this version offers a range of 520 km under the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle – which is precisely where this version’s name comes from. Additionally, the Deepal S07 628 increases the power of its electric motor to 160 kW and the battery pack capacity to 80 kWh, in this case with cells supplied by the Chinese supplier CALB. This version, as you may have already imagined, offers a CLTC range of 628 km.
Finally, it should be noted that alongside these two electric versions, Changan also sells in China EREV versions of the Deepal S07, that is, extended-range electric vehicles thanks to an additional combustion engine. These versions are not expected to reach the European market.

Is anything known about its price?
In the Chinese market, the Deepal S07 costs between 169,900 and 212,900 yuan, which at the current exchange rate works out to between 22,000 and 27,000 euros. Although the price this electric SUV will have in the European market has not yet been revealed, we can assume it will be considerably more expensive, as usually happens with all vehicles sold in China that eventually arrive in Europe.
