Following the international unveiling of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Motor Show, whether as a coupé or targa, the time has come to meet the true American open-top sports car, the Corvette Convertible, the next chapter in the history of the C7. This model will be revealed in Geneva in early March 2013.

It may seem odd that such a landmark American car is not being presented in its home country, but General Motors, the owner of Chevrolet, is trying to increase sales of this supercar across the old continent, which is difficult due both to its high price and the scarcity of units available, hence its debut at the Geneva Show.

The details surrounding this roofless feline are still quite scarce, although as always, under the bonnet we will find the newly arrived 6.2-litre V8 with two valves per cylinder and naturally aspirated. According to what we have been able to learn, the prototypes of the model that have been running in North America featured a soft-top roof, like the convertibles of the old school, lightweight models capable of delivering indescribable sensations to their drivers.

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is expected to reach production by mid-November, with its first deliveries starting in early 2014, three months after its hard-top sibling.
