China's answer to the Tesla Cybertruck is called the IAT T-Mad and it is spectacular

The Chinese manufacturer has presented an off-road pick-up with electric all-wheel drive that offers a very futuristic look, reminiscent of the Tesla Cybertruck, and it is spectacular.

Every action has a reaction, and when a manufacturer launches an innovative model, it is almost certain that a company in China will launch a similar model, but at a more affordable price. Chinese brands may already have moved beyond copying Western models, but the concept lives on and brings us interesting things such as the IAT T-Mad.

It is a pick-up that carves out its own space with a fairly obvious off-road spirit. A large vehicle with a futuristic image that brings to mind the Tesla Cybertruck. Obviously, it is an electric vehicle with a futuristic look and, although it lacks the angular lines of its Western counterpart, its intention is clear.

It offers a length of 5,878 mm, a width of 2,198 mm and a height of 2,029 mm, so it is as long as the Cybertruck. True, it is slightly wider than the American model and has a wheelbase slightly shorter than that of the Cybertruck, although it is still quite impressive. The wheelbase measures 3,622 mm, which is also striking.

We should also say that we do not know the exact dimensions of the production Cybertruck, so these may vary slightly. This Chinese model is a concept car, so it may also change if it reaches production.

A futuristic look

The front offers an uncommon image. Instead of a grille, it has a fairly large black bumper, which gives it the look the manufacturer is aiming for. This bumper has two towing hooks and a dominant presence. In the lighting area, we find a line of LED lights in place of the usual headlights.

The cabin has four doors, which open in a suicide configuration, and lead to an interior that can be configured in different ways. One of the images released with the presentation shows a bench seat at the rear and three individual seats that can be placed in various positions. The driver’s seat is in the central position.

No data is available for the production model, but the range it achieves once it leaves the production line is expected to reach 800 kilometres. The company says there could be a second variant offering 1,000 kilometres, with a larger battery.
