The Hyundai Tucson is positioned as the best-selling car in Spain in 2022
The Hyundai Tucson became the best-selling car in Spain in 2022.

2022 has come to an end, and registration figures have not been very encouraging. In the year-to-date total, the Hyundai Tucson became the best-selling car of 2022. The second spot goes to the Dacia Sandero, followed by the Seat Arona, which rounds out the podium. By brand, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai take the top three places in the ranking.
In total, 813,396 passenger cars and SUVs were registered. This represents a 5.4% decrease compared to 2021 and the loss of one in every three registrations since 2019. The reality is that the three best-selling cars of 2022 are the same as in 2021, although the order has changed slightly. The Hyundai Tucson has climbed to first place, while the Seat Arona has dropped to third.
The top five is completed by the Toyota Corolla and the Volkswagen T-Roc, followed by the Fiat 500, the Toyota C-HR, the Peugeot 2008, the Kia Sportage and the Citroën C3.

As for engines, diesel cars continue their downward trend; only 17.2% of new cars run on this fuel. Petrol, meanwhile, has been the choice of 41.9% of drivers. The rest corresponds to passenger cars and SUVs in the segment of vehicles with some form of electrification, such as fully electric models, full hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fuel cell models or bi-fuel vehicles running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). It is no surprise, since from 2035 onwards the sale of new internal combustion models will be banned in Europe.
