Chrysler announces a three-year alliance with NASA

Although at first glance cars and outer space (for the moment) seem to have little in common, we must not forget that at NASA some of the best engineers and scientists in the world work, so having their support can mean revolutionary advances. And that is what Chrysler aims for by confirming a new collaboration with the American space agency, which will last three years.
This quid pro quo will consist of NASA offering Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep its knowledge to develop new technologies and build synergies between them. Among the fields affected will be engineering materials, batteries, radar and robotics. A team led by a specialist from each side has been assigned to each one.
Chrysler will also help NASA with its various space exploration projects, as it already did for the first time almost half a century ago. In 1961, the Auburn Hills brand built Redstone rockets for Project Mercury, which enabled human beings to visit space for the first time. Furthermore, Chrysler was the manufacturer of several of the thrusters that powered the first two Apollo missions, including the first manned mission in 1968.
Scott Kunselman, vice president of engineering at Chrysler, stated during the announcement of the alliance:
This is a great opportunity to share knowledge and data in areas where both the Chrysler Group and NASA have a personal interest
By joining Fiat with NASA, the American automotive group appears to be in very good company, so it will “blast off like a rocket” from the dangerous abyss it fell into when it filed for bankruptcy last year and return to the position its followers are looking for.
