Citroën at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

We continue making our way among the different stands of the brands to stop now at Citroën. The main novelties with which Citroën is attending this event in Frankfurt were already known to us a couple of weeks ago, so we already know what we are going to find.
Two concepts such as the C-Cactus and the Wild Rubis, this last one is presented in Europe for the first time although it is a model of the DS that will be aimed mainly at the Asian market. We can also see the new C4 Grand Picasso or the Citroen C-Elysée WTCC.
C-Cactus

One of the concepts attracting the most attention at this edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show is Citroën C-Cactus, a prototype intended to preview future models of the C segment. Last week Citroën revealed practically all the data and performance figures of the C-Cactus, which is defined by dimensions of 4.21 metres in length and 1.75 metres in width. However, seeing it in person, the Airbump stands out even more, an element designed by Citroën to protect the vehicle from possible scratches or knocks to the bodywork. Aesthetically the model is still very far from a production future, since it does not even have side windows and the mirrors are not large enough to be homologated.
What stands out about the Citroën C-Cactus is that it offers passengers great habitability and interior space. Technology is also present, with several touchscreens that allow control of the vehicle. Another of its features is its propulsion, since it combines a Hybrid Air traction system that pairs compressed air and hydraulics with a PureTech petrol engine, which translates into a consumption of about 3 litres per 100 kilometres.
C4 Grand Picasso

The next model we head to is the C4 Grand Picasso, of which we already knew quite a few details and which we were even able to offer you exclusively a few months ago, the first images of its interior. It has been designed on the modular EMP2 platform and its interior offers enough space to seat seven passengers. One of its strengths is boot capacity, which stands at around 645 litres, about 69 litres more than the generation it replaces.
The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso is already available at Spanish dealerships with three engine options: two petrol and one diesel. The petrol versions are equipped with the VTI 120 and THP 155 engines, while the diesel comes with the e-HDi 115, with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an ETG6 automated gearbox. Its fuel consumption stands at 4 litres per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 104 grams. As for trim levels, there are four: Attraction, Seduction, Intensive and Exclusive, and there are eight body colours: Banquise white, Shark grey, Aluminium grey, Hickory, Onyx black, Rubi red, Teles blue and Kyanos blue.
As for equipment levels, it comes in four different versions: Attraction, Seduction, Intensive and Exclusive. Its standard equipment includes fog lights with the “Cornering Light” function, which improve night-time visibility on country roads, and a 360º camera that makes manoeuvring in the city and parking easier. The Grand C4 Picasso, like the C4 Picasso, is manufactured at the French brand’s plant in Vigo and has a starting price of around 21,000 euros.
DS Wild Rubis

Citroën DS Wild Rubis. This concept, which is part of the DS range, made its official debut at the recent Shanghai Motor Show, but this is the first time it has set foot on European soil. It is oriented towards the crossover segment and, like any good DS, its main characteristics are design and exclusivity. It was initially conceived as an exercise for a future model aimed at the Asian market; however, it is not ruled out that a similar model could be developed for Europe.
C-Elysée WTCC

The sporty side of Citroën’s stand is found in the Citroen C-Elysée WTCC, the model with which the brand will take part in the World Touring Car Championship next year. It will count on no less than Sébastien Loeb as main driver, accompanied by Yvan Muller. The aesthetic differences with respect to the road model are obvious, ranging from its aerodynamic improvements to a huge rear spoiler; it also features 18-inch wheels.
Its engine is the same one fitted to the DS3 WRC, that is, the 1.6 turbo direct-injection unit. This engine produces power slightly above 380 CV, transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.
