Congratulations! The new SEAT Leon is the best-selling model in the brand's history

The third generation of the SEAT León has broken every record set by the two previous versions of the brand’s compact. In less than five years, from the end of 2012 to date, SEAT has sold 682,567 units of the León.

It is the best-selling compact in the company’s history, following the excellent results achieved by the models launched in 1999 and 2005. In total, SEAT has sold 1,893,279 units of the León since its production began in 1999.

The SEAT León turns 18 and has become one of the flagship models of the Spanish brand. The results of the current generation have driven the transformation the company has undergone in recent years and have decisively contributed to SEAT’s sales growing uninterruptedly since 2013. Today, alongside the Ibiza and the Ateca, it is one of the three pillars of SEAT.

In the words of Wayne Griffiths, SEAT’s Sales Vice President, “the third generation of the León marks a before and after for SEAT and is one of the main drivers of the company’s change. It is our best-selling model and has allowed us to take a leap forward, also in our fleet business, thanks to the successful estate version that we have added to the range for the first time in this generation. The León CUPRA, the most powerful SEAT in the brand’s history, is an icon that represents the essence of the brand and has also allowed us to reach customers who want a car that is even more emotional and sportier.”

In January of this year, SEAT launched the renewal of the León. Together with the Ateca, the Ibiza and the Arona, the León is part of the largest product offensive in the history of the Iberian firm. The expansion and update of the range is driving SEAT’s sales, which have already grown by more than 13% so far this year.
