Corvette will be an electric car brand starting in 2025
According to several reports, GM will turn Corvette into a brand specialising in electric cars, with several models ready to launch in 2025

GM group is made up of several well-established brands, so it is no surprise that it wants to strengthen its presence in the electric mobility market and stay at the top with them. To do so, it is going to turn the name of one of its most popular models into an electric car brand. Corvette will thus become the banner under which several different models are placed.
This decision will mean that several electric vehicles will be manufactured under the Corvette brand, not only sports cars but also with other body styles and features. This will allow the American automotive group to compete in the premium electric car segment with a brand that already offers an image of quality and high performance.

First Corvette models as an electric car brand
According to several reports coming from GM, the first two models to be launched under this new brand are already in progress. In this case, they would be a four-door coupé and a high-performance crossover. And, of course, an electric version of the model that gives the brand its name is also on the new Corvette’s agenda.
All these models will be based on the Ultium platform, which is GM’s own development and features 800-volt technology. They will also be equipped with a cooling system designed by the automotive group and a two-speed transmission, along with a torque vectoring system.
As a preview of this move, the launch of a hybrid Chevrolet Corvette in 2023 has already been announced. The brand has not confirmed the level of electrification this variant will have, but it is expected to be a 48-volt mild-hybrid vehicle. The launch of an electric Corvette has also been confirmed, which could be the first under the new name.
In the United States there are not emissions limitations as strict as in Europe, so the version of the Corvette with a combustion engine could remain on the market for a long time.
