CUPRA
launches a new interior design concept in its 100% electric compact model UrbanRebel Concept, a sporty electric vehicle designed for urban use with which it aims to make the driver feel at the centre of the world.

With a spectacular design, 226 CV and batteries that give it 440 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, the model developed at the Martorell plant will be launched in 2025, subject to the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC), and aims to take CUPRA far beyond traditional limits.

The Spanish brand says it is committed to sustainable mobility and carbon-neutral emissions, as Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT and CUPRA, stated: “Accessible and sustainable, this will be the entry model in our next-generation range.” However, its main objective is to showcase the capabilities and technologies that CUPRA is developing for its future sporty electric vehicles.

The compact has been designed on the MEB Small platform of the Volkswagen Group Volkswagen, a platform that enables the construction of electric vehicles with greater flexibility in terms of body configuration and the placement of electric motors, giving the vehicle a length of up to 4 metres, which makes it an ideal option for urban mobility.

The interior of this model is designed looking towards the next generations: “When we designed the interior of the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept, we always had the next generation in mind, which is why we designed a colour palette for its interior lights that enhances that connection with the virtual world”, says Jorge Díez, the company’s Design Director.

“Gaming” interior design

The new SEAT model features a series of ambient lighting elements that highlight the interior details and create a futuristic, sporty atmosphere. It also has sports seats with four-point safety belts and a roll bar, creating the feeling of being inside a racing car.

The striking shades of green and yellow are a standout feature of the seats, whose design is inspired by sculptural and futuristic forms. In addition, these seats have been custom-made using 3D weaving techniques, which has made it possible to apply the latest technologies in the design of more sustainable parts. In this way, CUPRA has managed to combine sporty aesthetics with sustainability, through the use of more efficient and environmentally respectful production techniques.

The UrbanConcept model features two screens that unfold at the mere touch of a button: “With these LED screens, the driver has all the information needed for driving. This, together with the Head-up Display system, makes driving the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept a uniquely emotional experience”, says Díez.

On its multifunction sports steering wheel there are integrated buttons that look like a video game controller, designed to control the car’s various functions. “It is a very striking design with a rounded cut at the bottom that gives it a sportier touch. In addition, we have incorporated buttons reminiscent of those on a games console controller”, notes Jorge Díez.

From CUPRA they will continue to announce news until they officially let us see and test the company’s new and innovative design.
