Don't miss the first sketches of the new Smart #3!

Did you think March was going to be quiet? Well, you can see that it isn’t. Smart has just published the first sketches of its next model: the Smart #3. This electric SUV Coupé will reach Europe and China much sooner than you think; specifically, next April during the Shanghai Auto Show.

The truth is that last November we were able to see some images thanks to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, but now we’re going a bit further. According to the manufacturer itself, the Smart #3 adopts an “even more sporty interpretation of the brand’s visual identity”. This claim is more than evident when looking at the official sketches, which show a more familiar face and a muscular body combined with a sportier roofline and a sharper rear end.

Everything seems to indicate that it will share its interior with the Smart #1, including the infotainment system with a 12.8-inch screen, the 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch front display.

Everything we know about the Smart #3

From Chinese documents, we know that the Smart #3 measures 4,440 meters, which makes it 170 mm longer than the Smart #1. Both are based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which is also used by other Geely brands, including Volvo and Zeekr.

Although it is not yet official, we expect the new Smart SUV to share the same fully electric powertrain as its sibling, the #1. This could translate into rear-wheel-drive versions producing 272 CV and all-wheel-drive versions with 428 CV. In both cases, the battery has a capacity of 66 kWh. Despite being slightly larger, the Smart #2 could offer an even greater range than the Smart #1 thanks to the difference in aerodynamics.

The official presentation of the Smart #3 will take place on April 18 during the Shanghai Auto Show. Until then, you can enjoy the sketches.
