It has been many months since DS positioned itself as an independent brand from Citroën, while remaining within the PSA Group, so the trio of brands shares many elements with each other, the most important being the engines.

DS’s aim in separating from Citroën and no longer following as a higher range within the same brand was to shake off the impression of being mass-market and to position itself in the market as a Premium brand that has little to do with its mass-market sisters Peugeot and, especially, Citroën.

In this way, the DS 5, DS 4, DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio models gradually received a facelift, whose main changes were at the front, with a “new brand image” and no longer showing the double chevron logos anywhere.

DS habitually manages to capture all the spotlight through special editions. Last summer it launched the 60th Anniversary edition in tribute to the DS “Tiburón”, which was available across the entire range.

Now it presents a new limited edition exclusive to its mid-size model, called DS 4 Opera Blue. This aims to further enhance the elegance of the French compact with Encre Blue bodywork and Opal White for the roof and its discreet spoiler, the mirror caps and the centre of the 18-inch wheels with a design that is, naturally, very stylish.

In the interior it features mixed-upholstery seats and the latest technology in connectivity and infotainment through the 7-inch touchscreen that presides over the central console, with Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay, navigation, emergency call and localised assistance. Furthermore, the keyless entry and start system is not missing either.

The only optional extra offered is the “Habana Brown Bracelet Leather” pack which, at a cost of 2,500 euros, adds leather seats (the front ones also heated), a driver’s seat with electric adjustment and memory, parking sensors and a blind-spot sensor.

Mechanically it is available with the 1.2 PureTech 130 CV petrol engine at a cost of 26,600 euros, and with the 1.6 BlueHDi 120 CV at a price of 28,250 euros. The latter can also be ordered with the six-speed EAT6 automatic gearbox, although its price rises to 29,550 euros.
