Either him or me! Matt Le Blanc's ultimatum on Top Gear

It seems there are several open conflicts within the most famous motoring show in the world, the British Top Gear. As we all know, the trio of rogues moved to Amazon after the sacking of Jeremy Clarkson, motivated by his assault on one of the programme’s assistants.

After a period of uncertainty, Clarkson, May and Hammond, the best-known trio in motoring programmes, were starting a new chapter at Amazon, while Top Gear looked for solutions. The BBC’s traditional programme needed to replace the three presenters’ departure, and any car expert would not do. Besides talking about cars, it had to be done with humour to maintain the format used up to that point for several years now.

After much rumour, the presenting team was assembled, with Chris Evans at its head. Everything seemed to start off on the right foot while they prepared the season, although viewing figures for the first episodes have not met expectations.

Now another problem has reached the BBC: supposedly, there are serious differences between Chris Evans and Matt Le Blanc (the well-known American actor who played Joey in the iconic series Friends). According to the Evening Standard, Matt Le Blanc may have issued an ultimatum to the BBC, stating that he will not continue on the show if Evans remains part of the team. The Evening Standard also reports that he would not be the only one unhappy with the lead presenter.

Le Blanc’s departure would not be simple at all, since he has a two-season contract. Even so, if a good number of the presenters are “burnt out” with Evans, the BBC will have to come up with some solution. A television programme cannot succeed if its main members and visible faces do not agree on many aspects or, quite simply, do not speak to each other.

Meanwhile, you can be sure the trio of rogues, and Jeremy Clarkson in particular, are delighted with this latest news from their old workplace. We can imagine the laughter, can’t we?
