Eleanor goes on sale

For any car and engine enthusiast, the film “Gone in 60 Seconds” was the box-office hit of the past decade, a movie in which we could admire true works of art on four wheels, ranging from genuine 21st-century supercars to American classics such as Eleanor, a 1967 Ford Mustang GT500.
From 14 to 19 May 2013, the car will go up for sale at the 26th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis. It is possibly the most famous muscle car of all time: Eleanor, an American sports car that starred in a police chase that captivated every kind of spectator, from the casual enthusiast to the true car fanatic.

In 2000, the year “Gone in 60 Seconds” was released, up to three units of the Shelby Mustang GT500 with 1967 bodywork were built, of which only one survived to the present day. The rest were destroyed during filming (something similar happened to the Aston Martin DBS driven by James Bond in Quantum of Solace).
This vehicle, built by coachbuilder Chip Foose, featured a 5.7-litre V8 engine capable of delivering more than 400 CV to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. Its construction also stands out for its use of fine wood on the gear lever and steering wheel.
The Mustang, which comes with a certificate of authenticity and a special plaque bearing the name Elenaor, is expected to sell for around 100,000 dollars.
