Elektro Frosch, a small electric camper vehicle with limited range

Nature lovers who like to get out into the countryside are used to large vans fitted out for getaways in nature. But we can also come across other types of camper vehicles that are not as big or as well equipped as we might expect, yet can be used for this kind of getaway at any time. For example, a German company has presented the Elektro Frosh, a electric motor tricycle prepared for spending a couple of days in the countryside.

It is a standard-sized motor tricycle, measuring 2.74 metres in length and weighing 240 kg. It moves thanks to a small 3.4 CV electric motor powered by a 4.3 kWh battery. This means it can travel up to 60 km at best and at a fairly low speed of 40 km/h. The battery takes between 6 and 8 hours to charge. But this is not a handicap that stops the vehicle from having amenities for getting out into the countryside.

Although it does not have a module with a bathroom, it does have equipment so that two people can sleep comfortably, thanks to a camping module that includes a tent for two people, an extending awning and a removable kitchen unit. There is also a folding table and chairs, so users can fully enjoy the experience thanks to basic but very functional equipment.

Is this vehicle practical, considering its limitations? Its short range allows it to travel over not-too-steep terrain and close to a source of energy, because if it strays even a little from one of them, it will not be able to recharge the battery. That said, for getting around the area and enjoying a short getaway to a place far from civilisation, it is very practical.

The Elektro Frosch goes on sale with two trim levels. The first is called ‘Big‘ and has an open cabin with no doors. This version costs 3,990 euros, a very keen price that offers extra value. The ‘Pro‘ variant has an enclosed cabin and the same features as the previous one. Its price is 4,990 euros, so anyone who wants to enjoy this kind of short-range, clean and practical vehicle can have a camper to enjoy.
