Fastned opens its first two ultra-rapid charging stations in Spain

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Fastned is currently one of the most widespread charging operators across Europe.

Fastned, Europe’s leading company in fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, has just taken an important step forward as part of its European expansion strategy by opening its first two charging stations in Spain. This expands its presence to a total of nine European countries.

These two new Fastned charging stations are both located near Barcelona and offer a total of 16 fast charging points between them.

All electric vehicle owners who wish to charge in Spain for the first time using the Fastned network will find these two stations at the Garraf Nord and Garraf Sud service areas, in the province of Barcelona, on both sides of the C-32 road between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Cubelles.

Up to 300 km of range gained in just 15 minutes

Each of these stations has four chargers, with two charging points each, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power. This project has been developed in collaboration with Autopistas, the Spanish road operator, with the aim of creating a high-quality charging infrastructure network on the country’s motorways. This partnership reflects the joint commitment of both organisations to promoting a transition towards cleaner and more efficient mobility.

Far from stopping here, Fastned is already working on the construction of 13 new stations on Spanish territory, expanding its network to meet the growing demand for fast-charging infrastructure in the country. This effort is part of the company’s ambitious plan that will lead it to have one thousand fast-charging stations across Europe by 2030, further consolidating its leadership in the sector.

Fastned’s arrival in Spain began to take shape in January 2024, when the company announced its intention to build a high-power charging station near Madrid. By July of that same year, the plans were expanded to include two more charging stations in Barcelona, which are now a reality.

“Our mission is to accelerate the transition towards ultra-rapid, high-quality electric mobility, accessible to everyone. These two stations are just the beginning of our expansion plan in Spain, where we aim to build a solid and reliable charging network that drives the use of electric vehicles and fosters a cleaner energy future.”
