Ferrari 12Cilindri Tailor Made, a one-of-a-kind gem you can only see in South Korea
The Ferrari 12Cilindri has been through the brand’s Tailor Made department to convey the vision of four contemporary South Korean artists

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is one of the few genuine supercars left on the market, obviously for the enjoyment of whoever can afford it, since the Italian brand unveiled this beast in spring 2024, equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine of the old-school kind, with no electrification to spoil such an exercise in design, engineering and dynamic driving pleasure.
A vehicle like this one had to go through Tailor Made, the department where customers can work with the brand’s specialists to achieve the personalised Ferrari of their dreams. The Ferrari 12Cilindri now also forms part of Tailor Made thanks to a collaborative effort between four South Korean artists, the Styling Centre of Ferrari and Cool Hunting, an award-winning publication that since 2003 has been dedicated to the latest trends in design, culture and technology, and which has been in charge of coordinating the work between the artists and Ferrari.

South Koreans will have no trouble recognising this Tailor Made 12Cilindri when they see it on the road. Its distinctive paint scheme, called Yoonseul, pays homage to Korean tradition, blending the history and heritage of the region with the inspiration of celadon ceramics, as well as the charm of the capital, Seoul, and the vibrancy of electronic music, K-Pop and neon lights. All of this results in a iridescent finish that shifts from green to violet with blue highlights.

More specifically, each of the four artists contributed their work to the 12Cilindri Tailor Made. The artist Dahye Jeong brought her traditional horsehair fabric into play in several ways, such as in the fabric used for the seats, the floor and the soft surfaces, through one of her iconic patterns, which has been brought to life through a new 3-D fabric developed by a South Korean company. In addition, the glass roof of the Ferrari 12Cilindri now features a screen-printed version of the pattern, creating a play of light and shadow as the light moves across it. Most striking of all, however, will be a hand-woven piece made with Mongolian horsehair, located on the dashboard.

The second artist, Hyunhee Kim, specialises in innovating with materials to reinterpret traditional Korean objects from a critical and contemporary perspective. Her work is expressed through the distinctive Scuderia Ferrari badges, the wheels and the other name plates the car carries, all with a translucent effect, which has also been applied to the central tunnel, accompanied by a dedication plaque handmade with the project name in the artist’s traditional calligraphy. For the boot, Kim has created a traditional case for valuable and meaningful objects that can be used as a suitcase.

The third artist, TaeHyun Lee, is recognised for his work in contemporary art as well as his use of traditional Korean techniques such as lacquering, which he has carried over into his signature white lacquer, a great and extreme technique, with which he explores concepts such as superposition, depth and the transformation of matter. This unique way of understanding the language of contemporary art led him to create the white gear shift paddles behind the steering wheel or the exclusive white brake calipers, making them a world first on a Ferrari.
Finally, GRAYCODE, jiiiiin takes the stage, a duo known for performances and installations that explore sound, space and the intersection of technology and art. They were responsible for visually translating the characteristic sound of the 12Cilindri’s naturally aspirated V12 engine, which the brand’s craftsmen applied onto the transition paint I mentioned earlier, using a darker shade and a unique treatment for a one-of-a-kind Ferrari.
