Ferrari reveals the 599 GTO. The fastest Ferrari in history?

Finally, the Maranello house has released the first images of the 599 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato), described by the Italians themselves as the fastest Ferrari ever to leave the legendary Ferrari facilities, even surpassing the Ferrari Enzo itself; at least it carries the engine inherited from its bigger sibling, with the advantage of weighing 150 kg less.
The production version is almost entirely based on the Laboratorio Technologico 599XX concept, of which we showed you the first images last year. Since then, the 599 GTO has taken on various solutions already used in Formula 1, as is tradition at Ferrari.
Technically, the 599 GTO will be equipped with the 6-litre V12 pushed to 720 horsepower. There are still no final or official performance figures, but it could accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 332 km/h. The engine has been designed to run at high revs; the redline would sit at 9,000 RPM.
This model will also feature the suspension system called Magnetorheological Suspension Control System, which has no electromechanical components or moving parts. Damping is handled by four dampers filled with a special fluid that reacts to a magnetic field. This system was already popularised by Audi on the TT and R8, and by Cadillac some years ago.
Ferrari will produce 599 examples of the GTO, which will be presented at the Beijing show, at a price rumoured to be 430,000 dollars. I just want to conclude that it is a spectacular machine like all those from Ferrari, although it will have to be very careful with one of its upcoming rivals: the next Lamborghini Murcielago (announced at 360 km/h), which we will cover very soon.
