First deliveries of the Cybertruck by Tesla in Canada

The first deliveries were scheduled for a series of exclusive events in Ontario, with more units expected to reach other provinces in the coming days.

The American electric vehicle manufacturer has begun delivering the first units of the Cybertruck in its northern neighbour, after reservations opened there last August. Let us recall that Tesla, besides selling its electric pickup in its home country, began deliveries of the Cybertruck in Mexico at the end of September 2024, making this country the first outside the United States to receive its coveted electric pickup.

The first units, around ten, were delivered in Mexico at an exclusive event on 25 September, at which owners were able to see their vehicle in person for the first time and take delivery of it. Following the start of deliveries in Mexico just over a month ago, now Tesla is following the same path in Canada.

For the time being, in this North American country only the Foundation Series version of the Cybertruck is on sale, priced from CAD 137,990. This price is considerably higher than what must be paid in the United States for this same model, since at the current exchange rate CAD 137,990 is roughly USD 99,000, whereas in the latter country Tesla sells the Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive – with somewhat less equipment, admittedly – for USD 74,990.

Canadians think twice before ordering their Cybertruck

This is probably the reason why, according to the latest reports, demand for the Cybertruck in Canada is not especially high. Many Canadians interested in Tesla’s electric pickup have probably preferred to wait a few months for the company to lower its price with the launch of the All-Wheel Drive version, once all the units of the special Foundation Series edition have been delivered.

One of the clues suggesting precisely that demand for the Cybertruck in Canada is not very high is that the company advertises on its website for this country a delivery time of just a few weeks for all orders placed at this moment, bearing in mind that reservations opened in August and there should therefore be an accumulated backlog to fulfil over all this time.

In the United States, Tesla has delivered around 40,000 units of its electric pickup since sales began roughly a year ago. Although the company has not given exact figures in its latest report, it has stated that the Cybertruck ranked as the third best-selling electric vehicle in the country during the third quarter of this year, behind only the Model Y and the Model 3.
