First teaser video of the new Corvette

After my colleague Fernando showed you the first details about the next generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, General Motors has released a teaser video showing the making of the first clay models and the new logo ahead of the supercar’s official public debut at the Detroit Auto Show on 13 January 2013.

In these first images of the seventh generation Corvette, you can make out small fragments of the bodywork that will form the body of the American Ferrari. Among them are the front grille, the bonnet, the exterior mirrors, the rear wheel arch and the iconic four central exhaust pipes lined up.

Little is known about the engine that will power the C7, but rumours point to a new, smaller-displacement petrol V8 than the current ones, but in return it will produce even more power than the current 6.2-litre V8. We know it will enter production between August or September of this year and go on sale from 2014.

The wheelbase will also be shorter for better handling. The gearboxes will be six-speed manuals or eight-speed automatics, with a very long top gear to reduce fuel consumption of the American engine as much as possible.
