F-150 Ford Electric Cars Pick-up
Ford begins production of its highly anticipated F-150 Lightning in Michigan
The American manufacturer has just officially announced the start of production of its first 100% electric pick-up, a historic milestone for the brand

After more than 45 years on sale, the icon of the Ford F-150 has just added a new milestone to its history with the start of production of the new F-150 Lightning, a model that represents one of the most anticipated launches in the history of the blue oval brand and, without a doubt, of the automotive industry.
Since it was announced in May 2021, the new Ford F-150 Lightning has accumulated more than 200,000 reservations, leading Ford to even close its order book due to the successful reception of this launch by the public.
Ford’s all-electric pick-up has started production at the company’s historic Michigan plant, as this facility specializes in manufacturing electric vehicles and will be responsible for producing more than 100,000 units a year in order to meet all of its customers’ delivery deadlines.

One of the brand’s most successful models
According to Ford, 75% of the reservations for its F-150 Lightning come from new customers to the brand. If we analyze this pick-up as a product, it currently has only one rival, the Rivian R1T, with the clear advantage that it is considerably cheaper and, in addition, is backed by a major brand such as Ford.
Bill Ford, the brand’s executive chairman, stated the great importance of this moment for the company, since it was in that same Dearborn (Michigan) factory that the moving assembly line was perfected with the Ford T, and today, 109 years after that historic event, the brand’s first electric pick-up will be produced.
With its first units expected to arrive next year, the entry-level Ford F-150 Lightning starts from a price of $39,974, rising to $90,874 if you choose the top-of-the-range version, which offers a range of up to 482 kilometers, 563 CV of power and an incredible 1,050 Nm of torque.
