Ford Mondeo 2022: presentation of the saloon created by and for China

The new Ford Mondeo 2022 has just debuted in China with a really attractive and refreshed design. The bad news? It will not reach Europe, since, as Ford confirmed a few months ago, the popular saloon that has been with us since 1993 will soon leave the old continent in its saloon version, to become an SUV instead.

As for the design of this fifth generation of the Ford Mondeo, it was created at the Ford Design Centre in Shanghai, so it can be considered Chinese by birth, where it has been given a rather elegant and muscular look, thanks above all to its new front end.

Its features in detail

This new front end features a large grille with small horizontal slats, which at its upper part is fitted with a thin LED line that connects to its new light units, also in LED technology, drawing a really attractive light signature.

Looking at it from the side, we find carefully sculpted shapes with some fairly pronounced styling creases, flush door handles, a rather athletic roofline and new alloy wheels with a two-tone finish in 18 inches.

At the rear, the new Mondeo 2022 sports new LED rear lights, a horizontal arrangement and a very slim design that runs across the entire rear from side to side. In addition, thanks to this feature and to the increase in width of 23 millimetres and in length of 63 millimetres, it offers an image and interior space of a higher segment.

Interior and mechanicals to be confirmed

As for its interior, Ford has not published any details or images yet, although we know that the technological level of this new generation will include a large screen for its infotainment system and a rather advanced safety package.

The Blue Oval brand has not given official details of its engine range either, although if we look at the lettering on the rear of the unit in the photographs, we can see the badge 245, so it could be assumed that one of its engines is a 2.0-litre Ecoboost with 245 CV of power.
