Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance: electric power at its peak

Ford has long made its clear inclination toward electric mobility known, and the new Ford Mustang Mach-E is irrefutable proof of it. However, the Blue Oval brand has made sure to demonstrate that this type of powertrain and sportiness are not incompatible. To achieve this, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT was conceived as the more performance-oriented variant of the electric SUV, but they have gone even further. And now the Mach-E GT Performance arrives, a version that aims to outshine high-flying combustion supercars.

And indeed, the ultimate expression of Ford’s electric car comes under this name, which promises jaw-dropping performance. In addition, and as could only be expected, it features a series of styling touches that aim to improve aerodynamics and make clear that this is not an ordinary Ford Mustang Mach-E.

At first glance, there is a specific front grille trimmed in carbon fibre, designed to lend exclusivity to the overall look and reduce total weight. Also noticeable are bumpers specific to this variant, a distinctive badge, larger brake discs on the front wheels, red Brembo calipers and 20-inch wheels painted in ebony black.

In terms of dynamics, it features the already familiar MagneRide suspension found on its combustion-engined “counterpart”. Thanks to it, Ford guarantees better cornering and handling more typical of a sports car than an SUV. This element is essential after the power increase the American manufacturer has given the new Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance.

And indeed, although power remains unchanged from the conventional Mach-E GT at 487 CV, torque rises from 813 Nm to 860 Nm. This allows the electric SUV to complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.5 seconds, or about 3.6 seconds for 0-100 km/h, which is almost as quick as a Ford Shelby Mustang GT500, and that’s saying something.

For now we do not know whether the new Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance will also go on sale in Europe. But whatever the case, we are confident that electric mobility courtesy of Ford will not end with the Mustang Mach-E, a model that has set a new path that will shape future models with the same electric drive layout, which in turn will give rise to new sporty variants.
