Ford Shelby F-150: the 700 hp pick-up arrives at the Chicago Auto Show

The Ford Raptor is a very popular pick-up around the world, but for those who find its 400 hp turbocharged V8 engine a little underwhelming, there is a new version that will take your breath away. It is the Shelby F-150, which will be on display at the Chicago Auto Show and boasts a whopping 700 hp.

This monstrous pick-up was first unveiled last year at the SEMA show and, although it may sound like science fiction, it is on sale at official dealerships of Ford in the United States. This model is based on the standard Ford F-150 but uses an optimised suspension.

Its damping is designed to allow drivers to “make adjustments in order to achieve more precise driving performance on any terrain”, according to Ford. The exterior of this vehicle features a series of design details that make it an even more aggressive and imposing pick-up than the standard version. Among these elements, the 18-inch wheels, BF Goodrich off-road tyres and Shelby badges placed in different parts of the vehicle stand out.

But perhaps the most striking thing about this Ford F-150 is its impressive engine. This pick-up fits a supercharged 5.0-litre V8§ unit that delivers 700 hp, and that is no small feat. The price of this version is $99,000. There is, however, the option of buying the Shelby version of the F-150 with the standard 400 hp engine for $85,000, although getting 300 extra hp for an additional $135,000 does not seem like a bad deal. The Shelby F-150 has been made possible thanks to the joint venture established between the oval brand and the company Tuscany Motor. The company specialising in pick-up manufacturing builds this model at the plant located in Elkhart (Indiana, USA).
