Ford updates the Mustang Mach-E with more range, better performance and faster charging

With the aim of increasing the competitiveness of its most important electric model, Ford has just introduced some significant improvements in the new 2024 edition of the Mustang Mach-E

The American manufacturer has just announced the launch in its home market of the 2024 edition of the Mustang Mach-E, which will come with a series of interesting improvements. Although, as we said, the statement published by the company refers to the North American market, we have no doubt that the European model should also be updated.

The first thing to highlight is an increase in range across the three versions that Ford sells in North America, ranging from 20 additional miles -33 km- for the entry-level and mid-range versions, to 10 miles -16 km- for the GT version. The company says this increase in range has been possible thanks to the implementation of a new, considerably more efficient electric motor on the rear axle.

Additionally, the new Ford Mustang Mach-E has also seen its DC charging times reduced. The American manufacturer now announces that the time needed to raise the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in all versions equipped with the extended-range battery pack is only 36 minutes. The new Mustang Mach-E therefore charges 20 percent faster than its predecessor.

The Mustang Mach-E steps up

The improvements to Ford’s electric SUV don’t end here, however. All customers who opt for the new Mustang Mach-E GT will also enjoy greater performance thanks to a new optional upgrade called Performance, aimed precisely at achieving the best performance on the track.

In the case of the GT version, this performance upgrade will allow it to stop the clock when reaching 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 3.3 seconds, thus beating both the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Porsche Macan Electric. In the quarter-mile test, this same version now records a time of 11.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 114 miles per hour.

Ford Mustang Mach E Rally Back

Finally, it should be noted that Ford will begin selling a new version called Rally, which will include the Performance upgrade as standard. The American manufacturer explains that the new Mustang Mach-E Rally has been tuned to deliver the best results both on and off the track. The Rally version also has greater ground clearance than the GT version, allowing it to tackle more demanding terrain.
