Foxconn will begin production of electric SUVs in Poland in 2029
Poland is accelerating its electric revolution through a strategic alliance with Foxconn, with the goal of producing up to 400,000 electric SUVs per year from 2029.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has confirmed the creation of a new electric vehicle production plant in Jaworzno, in southern Poland, through an alliance between ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) and the Taiwanese company Foxconn.
According to his statements, the project involves the installation of a large industrial centre that will be fully integrated into the technological and productive ecosystem of the region. The plant will begin operating in 2029 and will have an annual production capacity of up to 400,000 electric SUVs. Three mid-range models are expected to launch, based on existing platforms from Foxtron, Foxconn’s electric vehicle division. The Polish prime minister also highlighted that more than 70 percent of the engineering for these new platforms will be carried out by Polish professionals.

Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin next spring of 2027, once the joint venture agreement between both parties is signed. The project also includes the construction of another semiconductor plant in collaboration with Foxconn, which reinforces Poland’s commitment to strengthening its technology and sustainable mobility industry.
Poland jumps on the electric mobility bandwagon
EMP is a joint company created a decade ago by several Polish state energy companies, with the initial goal of bringing the Izera brand to market with the support of a major Chinese manufacturer. In 2020 it presented its first prototype, but the project failed and was suspended in 2024. Now, the company has reactivated its efforts this time with the backing of the Taiwanese giant Foxconn.
The Polish government will support this initiative with loans worth 4.5 billion zlotys – approximately 1.06 billion euros – from European recovery funds. The financing will be shared between EMP and Foxconn.

This alliance represents a significant step for Poland in its transition towards electric mobility and in attracting high-value technological foreign investment. The project will not only generate employment and regional development, but also positions the country as a relevant player in the European electric vehicle industry.
