Genesis renews the electric version of its G80 luxury saloon and improves its range
With this renewal of the electric G80, the South Korean manufacturer aims to set a new benchmark for luxury levels, interior space and range within its segment.
Genesis has just announced the renewal of the electric G80, the luxury saloon and flagship model of the brand. This new model, which will reach European roads from next June, features significant improvements in design, technology and range, establishing itself in the market as one of the best options for anyone looking for a premium vehicle with a fully electric powertrain.
Following the launch of the electric G80 in 2021, equipped at the time with an 87.2 kWh battery pack on an 800V architecture, this new generation of the South Korean manufacturer’s electric luxury saloon now arrives with a higher-capacity battery pack, which grows to 94.5 kWh.

As expected, this increase in battery capacity also results in a higher range for the vehicle, which according to the manufacturer can now travel up to 570 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle. It is not all advantages, however, as a DC charge from 10 to 80 per cent will now take 25 minutes, compared with 22 minutes in the previous model. This is due to the increase in battery capacity without a corresponding increase in the supported charging power.
Genesis has also integrated a system to condition the battery temperature in order to optimise charging in any weather conditions, and the vehicle now also features an illuminated charging port with electric opening and closing, making it easier to use in dark environments.
Even more premium
In terms of design, the renewed electric G80 keeps the same iconic central grille of the brand but now features matrix LED headlights that improve lighting. It should also be noted that the 19-inch wheels it fits come with a new design, and inside, the front and rear seats have been redesigned for greater comfort. One of the most eye-catching changes, however, is the integration of a 27-inch OLED screen that combines the infotainment system with the digital instrument cluster, offering a unique visual experience. Lovers of good music will also be delighted with this vehicle, as the 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, compatible with Dolby Atmos, comes as standard, raising the acoustic experience to a higher level.

Finally, we cannot conclude without mentioning that with this new generation of the South Korean manufacturer’s electric saloon, the wheelbase has been increased by 13 centimetres, something rare in this type of renewal, which is usually reserved for the launch of entirely new models. Beyond the need to accommodate a higher-capacity battery pack, with this structural modification Genesis has aimed to offer its customers more interior space and a higher level of comfort, in line with its status as a premium vehicle.

Although Genesis has not yet revealed its price in Europe, its launch is scheduled for next June 2025, starting with Germany and the United Kingdom. In any case, we can expect a slight increase in the amount to be paid to acquire a unit, as has happened in South Korea, where its retail price is known and has risen from 88,190,000 won (around 58,625 euros) to 89,190,000 won (around 59,290 euros).
