German luxury brands boost their sales in China
The economic growth that the Asian country is showing has allowed a number of manufacturers to withstand, to a certain extent, the current economic situation; therefore, the figures recently announced by Mercedes Benz, BMW, Volkswagen and Audi AG are encouraging.
Mercedes reported that sales recorded in April set a record for the company in China, as the number of units on the roads doubled (11,300 cars); this means that transactions rose by up to 100%.
Another manufacturer whose sales exceed expectations is BMW, whose group, including Rolls Royce and Mini, showed a growth of 115%; a total of 12,445 vehicles.
On the other hand, although Audi is currently the largest luxury brand in China, it only rose by 61% with 19,606 cars, a statistic the company takes positively because it exceeds the original forecasts.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, continues with its expansion policy focused on family saloons, which are gradually gaining the preference of Chinese consumers; so much so that the manufacturer has reported that its growth rate stands at 73% with more than 71,000 cars, but clarifies that this margin was achieved over the course of the first quarter of the year.
