Good news for SEAT! Its sales are back to 2001 levels
Although the shadow of the economic crisis still looms large, car sales are gradually recovering, and SEAT is among those posting very good figures

That vehicle sales have fallen dramatically because of the crisis is no secret to anyone, reaching such levels that many countries have feared the continuation of production at their respective factories. But thanks to purchase incentives, the automotive sector has seen a gradual recovery, until regaining its smile with levels close to those before the crisis.
SEAT, like the rest of the brands, has also been shaken by the economic crisis, but it seems that at last they can say they see the light at the end of the tunnel. The year 2017 could not have started better for them, and now that we have finished the first quarter of the year, they are very proud to announce that their sales have surpassed figures they had not managed to reach since 2001.
This means that, taking the same period of 2016 as a reference, their sales have increased by 14%, or to put it another way, 117,300 units sold in the first quarter of 2017 compared with the 102,900 units sold in the same period of 2016. If we focus on March of this year, we also see that their sales have risen, with 53,200 units sold this month alone, a 14.4% increase over March 2016, which means the highest volume of vehicles sold in a single month in 17 years, specifically since the year 2000!

According to SEAT, the country that has helped most to achieve these figures is Spain, with 24,700 units sold in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of 16.6%, while sales to private customers have grown by 50% so far this year. It is through this channel that the new SEAT Ateca stands out as the undisputed leader, making it a real success for the brand, although the Ibiza and the León remain in the top 5. Alongside Spain on the podium are Germany and the United Kingdom, in that order, and the progress of key markets such as Mexico and Turkey also stands out.
For these reasons, it is no surprise that SEAT is bursting with pride. For them, this increase in sales is due to models such as the Ateca and the León, while they place their hopes on sales continuing to be positive thanks to the Ibiza from June, the compact crossover Arona arriving in the second quarter of the year and, for 2018, the new SUV that will be positioned above the Ateca.
