Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, a SUV beast with over 700 CV

SUVs appear to be more than a passing fad. Especially when we are talking about one of the most popular off-roaders in the world, the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The American brand now presents a new version that will delight the most demanding users, named Trackhawk.

The current generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee can already be considered a veteran. However, its robust character and good build quality have meant that the passing of time has not made much of a dent in the design of the Grand Cherokee, which still enjoys a good level of acceptance among the public.

Now comes a daring bet that positions the Grand Cherokee as the most powerful production SUV in the world. The Trackhawk variant is set to make us forget models such as the BMW X5 M, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S or the Audi SQ7, all of which have outputs that, in the worst case, hover around 430 CV and, in the best case, exceed 550 CV.

The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk stands apart by fitting under its bonnet the same 6.2 V8 engine found in models such as the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat or the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Yes, we are talking about the same supercharged V8 block, with an output above 700 CV, specifically 717 CV.

717 CV and 850 Nm, figures that place the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk a clear step above the rest of the alternatives currently on sale, and that allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 290 km/h. This version is only available in combination with an 8-speed automatic gearbox paired with a permanent all-wheel-drive system.

Of course, and as a good “powerful American”, we are under no illusions with the Trackhawk at any time. From the first glance we are aware that this variant is not just another trim, thanks to a complete styling pack that includes elements such as sporty bumpers, specific alloy wheels and a clearly visible exhaust system.

Inside, the changes compared with a standard Grand Cherokee are less obvious, but we cannot overlook the standard ruby-coloured upholstery, the carbon-fibre decorative trim or the specific instrumentation accompanied by a comprehensive multimedia system with a sophisticated telemetry system.
