Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport R: high-performance "shoes"
Goodyear is responding to the growing range of hypercars and high-performance supercars with its new Eagle F1 Supersport R tyres.
Goodyear’s return to the ultra-high-performance tyre segment (UUHP) with its Eagle F1 Supersport range is great news for owners of high-end sports cars. We are talking about cars designed to be driven on the track too, such as a Porsche 911 GT3, an BMW M4 or a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, to name a few examples.

And within the Eagle F1 SuperSport range, Goodyear now presents the intermediate option, the SuperSport R, which sits between the Eagle F1 SuperSport and the Eagle F1 SuperSport R.
Technology proven in competition
Normally, all manufacturers capable of bringing this type of tyre to market use motorsport as a testing laboratory and proving ground. In the end, road tyres benefit from technologies that have first proven their worth in competition.

In the case of the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport R, the goal was to improve steering precision and response by optimising the contact patch so that pressure distribution is more consistent. At the same time, the aim was to improve dry grip, especially when the tyre is subjected to extreme forces in corners.
To achieve this, Goodyear applies three technologies:
- Advanced Control Compound: a new rubber compound that uses resin, developed for dry asphalt, and optimises friction, thereby increasing grip.

- Bridge Assist: a series of rubber blocks integrated into one of the three grooves of the tread, providing greater resistance to flexing when the tyre is subjected to heavy cornering loads.

- Impulse Plus Construction: based on the technology already found in the SuperSport, optimising the tread and its contours to ensure the largest contact area with the asphalt and distribute pressure evenly.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport R are available in 10 different sizes, for wheels from 18 to 21 inches, with rim widths from 205 to 325 mm and profiles from 25 to 40. As for price, in a 265/35 ZR20 99Y size, you can find them in online shops for around 330 euros. By way of comparison, the Eagle F1 SuperSport, without the “R”, in the same size cost about 100 euros less.
