The Origins special edition arrives at the Citroën C3 Aircross

Citroën continues to expand its Origins special editions to mark its centenary, this time with the C3 Aircross, which pays tribute to the Citroën-Kégresse

As we have already mentioned, Citroën is celebrating its centenary throughout 2019, so such a special anniversary could not go without a “gift” for its customers. This is how the Origins special editions were born, such as the Citroën C3 SpaceTourer, which we saw earlier with special decoration and more comprehensive standard equipment.

The aim of the Origins special editions is to offer a unique look along with comprehensive standard equipment but, essentially, they also seek to commemorate an iconic model from the brand. On this occasion, the French marque sets out to recall the Citroën-Kégresse, a half-track vehicle created in 1921 and considered the father of off-road vehicles, which in 1922 also achieved the feat of being the first vehicle to cross the Sahara Desert.

To pay tribute to the Citroën-Kégresse under the Origins special edition, the French brand has chosen the Citroën C3 Aircross, a compact SUV that can perfectly serve as the modern ambassador of such an iconic vehicle. Externally, the C3 Aircross Origins will be available in three colours for its bodywork, with a choice of Banquise White, Artense Grey or Platinum Grey, all combined with a Onyx Black roof; the 16-inch alloy wheels are painted in Matrix Black, along with bronze detail lines on several elements such as the headlight surrounds and the mirrors, and finally a louvred blind-effect pattern on the rear quarter windows and stickers bearing the edition’s logo.

Inside, changes have also been made in the same spirit, with a design inspired by travel and decorative arts, paying special attention to the care of the materials used and to small details, such as the subtle bronze-anodised accents on the air vents of the climate control system. In addition, for the upholstery, Citroën has opted for the specific Curitiba Grey colour, with gold-coloured stitching as a contrast and the Origins badge.

As standard equipment on the Citroën C3 Aircross Origins we find items such as the 7-inch touchscreen, the Citroën Connect NAV connected navigation system, which provides real-time traffic information, Mirror Screen and rear parking assistance. Mechanically, it will be available with the PureTech 110 S&S petrol engine or the BlueHDi 100 S&S diesel engine, both with a six-speed manual gearbox.
