Whenever we reach a special date, some outlandish idea always comes from a manufacturer, ideas whose only aim is to make us smile and brighten our day. On this Christmas Day I bring you a video created by Hennessey Performance, the American tuner specialising in sports cars, teaming up with one of the most charismatic models from Dodge.

But first, let’s set the scene. We don’t know what Josh Hennessey, CEO of Hennessey Performance, had for breakfast that day, but in a moment of, let’s say, clarity, he had the brilliant idea of creating what they have titled “The fastest Christmas tree in the world”. And what does it take to achieve such a goal? Well, first a fir tree, and then something to propel it as fast as possible, and since we’re talking about Hennessey Performance, the most readily available option is a fine pata negra sports car.

At first, they took the “pata negra” part quite literally. Phone in hand, they contacted Dodge, and the first proposal was to request the BEAST (yes, in capitals) created in 2017 by Dodge: the Challenger SRT Demon. Unfortunately for Hennessey Performance, Dodge had none of these units available for such a feat; on the other hand, the little Christmas tree could be kept safe from the brutal 707 hp and 1,043 Nm of torque of the Demon, since once the run was over the tree would surely not be in any condition for much more.

But unfortunately for our protagonist, the solution found was not much better. Dodge did not have a Demon, but it could offer Hennessey another of its breathtaking models: the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Let’s say this model is the Demon’s younger brother; it also has 707 hp of power flowing from its 6,200 cc HEMI V8 engine, although the torque is reduced to 881 Nm, not bad either.

Now that we have a tree and a vehicle to transport it, only the last two steps remain. Put the tree on the roof of the SRT Hellcat and achieve its top speed, and then reach the rather silly conclusion. And what is that conclusion? That the SRT Hellcat Widebody reached a top speed of 284 km/h with the tree holder fitted, while with the tree itself on top the top speed reached 280 km/h, so a simple tree affects its aerodynamics but, on the other hand, we have the fastest Christmas tree in the world.

Can you imagine ordering a Christmas tree and having it delivered like this? It would be, to say the least, interesting, but surely also very entertaining; just watch the video of this “challenge”. Enjoy it and turn up the volume, because listening to the engine of the Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody is an absolute treat.
