Hispano-Suiza returns and will be present on the market with an electric car

The Geneva Motor Show will host the return of the legendary Hispano-Suiza brand, which will unveil a prototype of a fully electric supercar to amaze us

Hispano Suiza vuelve con un superdeportivo eléctrico

You have probably heard of this brand, but you are sure to be in a bit of a fog, since although it was very popular for some time in the early 20th century, it has disappeared from the map. Hispano-Suiza was a Spanish brand that manufactured luxury cars and had a certain international importance, even rivalling the high-end cars of those early years of the 20th century. Saying Hispano-Suiza was similar to saying Rolls-Royce or Bugatti, although eventually, in the 1960s, it disappeared.

It did not do so completely; instead, it has reappeared from time to time with several prototypes that never saw the light of day. The last news we had of Hispano-Suiza was in 2000, with the HS21 supercar at the Geneva Motor Show, the K8 in 2001 and finally, in 2002, with the HS21-GTS. After several years without news of the Barcelona-based brand, the time has come to plan its return and, according to reports, it will do so with a new supercar, but this time, fully electric.

The presentation of this supercar, of which they have only published a teaser showing its silhouette, will once again take place at the Geneva Motor Show, and it has been the founder’s great-grandson, Miquel Suqué Mateu, who has announced the news. And not without surprise, because he took the opportunity to recall that in 1919 the brand already designed and built an electrically powered prototype, although at that time it did not go into industrial production.

We do not know any more details at the moment, so everything that emerges will be a surprise for everyone. Certainly, it will be good news for the brand of the most elegant cars ever built in Spain to rise from its ashes and become important again in the international market. It is not clear whether it will be a model that goes into production and marks the restart of the brand, but certainly, it gives us some hope. Will this be the sign of Hispano-Suiza‘s return to the pantheon of cars?
