Honda Civic 2015; we reveal all the details

Just a few days ago we got firsthand insight into the update of the Honda CR-V, the SUV from the Japanese brand, one of its fundamental pillars in our country.
Today it is the turn of the renewal of its compact model, the Civic, the model with the most history and heritage at Honda.
Exterior design: where the changes are obvious
On the exterior of the Civic we find the most obvious and eye-catching changes in the compact’s new range. If we start the review at the front, we quickly notice that the light clusters now have a sportier shape, as well as a black background with a sporty touch.
The bumper now features larger air intakes with a black finish.

The side is updated with wheels of a new design, while the rear is rejuvenated with a sportier bumper, LED light clusters with a new internal structure and a more pronounced diffuser.
Interior design: more technology and better finishes
The cabin has barely been modified. However, some materials and trims now have a higher quality, while the upholstery and stitching have been revised to offer a more solid look, adding chrome appliqués, as well as moldings on the dashboard.
The Honda Connect system is also incorporated, an entertainment system based on the Android operating system that we already discussed in the article on the Honda CR-V.
The Honda Civic 2015 therefore retains all of its interior qualities, with a dashboard that stands out for its futuristic and sporty design, in two levels, with analogue instrumentation behind the steering wheel and a digital speedometer at the top, almost touching the windscreen.
Technology: fair updates to keep it young
Honda has decided to equip the Civic with a good dose of technology to rejuvenate and relaunch sales of this model which, currently, is in its 9th generation, at the midpoint of its commercial life.
Lighting has been improved with the incorporation of LED technology for daytime running, position and dipped-beam lights, while the main beams remain halogen. An optional safety pack is added, encompassing numerous features such as lane departure warning, blind-spot assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

In addition, as standard, the Civic 2015 will feature, in all versions, heated seats, dual-zone air conditioning and an autonomous emergency braking system, capable of avoiding rear-end collisions at low speed.
Dynamically, the Civic gets a more advanced stability control system, an evolution of the current VSA. The power steering mapping is modified, as well as the calibration of both the front and rear suspension. The AHA system is added, an agile driving assistant that maximises traction, minimising body roll and improving comfort.
New Sport version: the prelude to the Type R
The Honda Civic 2015 will debut a new trim level, called Sport, which emphasises the compact’s dynamic and sporty focus. Honda describes it as a step before the Type R, as it includes aesthetic adjustments (honeycomb grilles, 17″ alloy wheels painted black, painted rear spoiler), as well as new interior specifications with metal pedals and black finishes on both the roof and the pillars.

It will be available in combination with the two most powerful engines, the 120 hp 1.6 i-DTEC diesel, as well as the 140 hp 1.8 VTEC. The small 100 hp 1.4 VTEC remains as the entry-level option, sufficient for urban journeys, while the other two engines are better suited to longer trips. The Civic 2015 will be available in a few weeks across the entire Spanish dealer network.
