Honda HR-V 2021: we meet the new hybrid SUV from Honda arriving in Spain this winter

Honda has just unveiled more information about the Honda HR-V 2021, a model that will arrive in Spain during the last quarter of 2021 with a hybrid offering.

Honda continues its push with some very interesting vehicles, led so far by the Honda charismatic Honda e, its first 100% electric car. However, the Japanese brand has focused its efforts on the Honda HR-V 2021, an urban-style SUV that positions itself in the market as the intermediate step between electric mobility and hybridisation. After learning some of its details in February, Honda today gives us all the relevant information so we can get closer to the new HR-V and all the aspects that are set to win us over.

It is true that the aesthetic side of Honda’s new SUV is revolutionary and it arrives ready to set a new direction for the brand. It achieves this through what the brand has named Noiseless Design, or in other words, a clean, refined design free of noise, which seeks to be as direct as possible without showy and unnecessary ornamentation.

However, the real highlight of the Honda HR-V 2021 is its debut as a hybrid car. This is because, in addition to moving forward with what is established in the current automotive sector, it helps the brand behind it meet its goal. Indeed, Honda intends to have a fully electrified model range by the end of 2022.

We must also add a generous technological equipment that can be perceived in the cabin of the new HR-V. A digital instrument cluster stands out, a infotainment system screen placed in a slightly higher position, and physical dials to manage the climate control. In addition, a clean and refined design also stands out, which seeks to match the philosophy used to shape the exterior of the HR-V.

The presence of a new high-resolution camera with wide-angle lens and artificial intelligence also stands out, improving the detection of pedestrians and obstacles or the blind-spot warning, whose range increases from 3 to 25 metres. However, the novelty of the Honda HR-V lies in its mechanical section, where a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle engine paired with two electric motors and a battery of still unknown capacity take centre stage.

Together, these three motors produce 136 CV and 253 Nm of torque. One of the electric motors is responsible for propelling the car, while the petrol engine acts as a generator and only drives the wheels in the most intense acceleration situations, such as overtaking. In this way, the new Honda HR-V will arrive in Spain during the last quarter of 2021 as a very interesting option.
