Honda joins Toyota in recalling nearly 500,000 vehicles for brake problems

Only a few hours ago, Toyota had announced another of its large-scale service recalls to fix a brake problem (a defect in the seal of the master cylinder) affecting one and a half million units. Now Honda is issuing a recall that would not be out of the ordinary were it not for the fact that it involves the same problem as Toyota.
The other Japanese manufacturer will be recalling more than half a million vehicles worldwide, the vast majority of them in the USA, for the same problem. Coincidence or curiosity? It is less of a coincidence when we see that the supplier of the gaskets for the brake master cylinder is the same for both brands: ADVICS Co.
The recall affects the 2005 to 2007 Acura RL and the models from the same years of the Honda Odyssey. Although, according to the press release that Honda has issued, there is no possibility of being left completely without brakes.
The greatest risk will be the usual failure of the master cylinder: the pedal will become soft, the system will lose all of its brake fluid and, finally, one of the two hydraulic circuits will fail. Of course, before all this happens, the affected owners will have to visit the nearest Honda workshop.
