Honda will present the new 1.6 i-DTeC engine for the Civic in Paris
The new 1.6-litre diesel engine for the Civic will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show as the first European powerplant of Honda’s new Earth Dreams Technology line.

The promise that Honda executives made last year has been kept: to present a 1.6 diesel block by the end of this year, since the next Paris Motor Show is where we will see this new engine, which is a step forward compared with the 2.2 i-DTEC.
Although the Japanese manufacturer has already presented the first engine in this new powertrain line, called Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology, in the US (with the 2.4 petrol engine from the Accord), this is the first time that a engine from the new turbo diesel line will be presented in Europe.
According to the data, the new engine will produce 118 CV, with consumption of 3.6 l/100 km. These are interesting figures, which will put the Civic in a position to compete against the many rival diesel engines that displace around 1.5 litres or between 1.5 and 2 litres.
The same engine would also be one of those used in the new generation of the Accord for Europe, which would also be presented at the Paris Motor Show, in a few days’ time.
