Hongqi EH7 and EHS7, the first electric cars from the Chinese brand arrive in Europe
The Chinese brand Hongqi is finally arriving in the European market, with two models that signal the brand’s intention to position itself in the luxury car segment.

We have known for some time about the Chinese brand Hongqi‘s presence in the European market, but it is only now that the first shipment of the brand’s models to Europe has become a reality. This first shipment consists of 600 units, among which the Hongqi EH7 and EHS7 models stand out.
The Hongqi EH7 is a saloon that offers an attractive and modern look. It is a four-door model that could even position itself against the Tesla Model S, so we are dealing with an electric car that sits in the upper range and moves away from use by a more common, city-oriented public.

Its size already gives a hint: it is a car with a length of 4.98 metres, a width of 1.91 metres and a wheelbase of 3 metres. Inside we find a six-inch screen for the instrument cluster and another of 15.5 inches dedicated to the infotainment system.
In addition, the equipment includes a panoramic roof of two square metres and a Head-Up Display to keep the driving data as visible as possible. It also features 256-colour ambient lighting, and the steering wheel has touch controls for managing the vehicle’s systems.

As for the powertrain, it consists of one or two electric motors. The version with a single motor on the rear axle delivers 344 CV, while the version with motors on both axles reaches 619 CV. The battery is offered in two capacities, 85 and 111 kWh. At most, it offers a range of 700 kilometres. The battery can be charged in just 20 minutes if a 250 kW charger is used, which makes it a fairly interesting car for long journeys if chargers of that power are available along the route.
For its part, the Hongqi EHS7 is the SUV version of this model. Its look departs from the saloon and it presents itself as an interesting SUV. Inside, several elements reproduce the cabin of the previous model, although with a slight aesthetic change to adapt the design to that of an SUV.
The engines and batteries are also the same, so it shows figures very similar to those of the EH7. Both will be available in several European countries, which for the moment are Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Let us hope that this list of countries will soon expand and that they reach Spain soon.
