Huawei is already in the autonomous car race: it will arrive in 2025
The Chinese communications technology company Huawei is working on an electric model with full autonomous driving that it will launch in 2025.

The autonomous car is set to be one of the major novelties to break into the market within a very short time. It will be a significant milestone reached, since the conditions the technology currently offers are still far from being fully functional. Even so, several companies are working to make this a reality in a very short period of time. Apple is one of them, as it has been announcing for some years now. Another, and not far behind, is Huawei, until now a mobile phone manufacturer.
The Chinese brand announced some time ago its intention to develop technology for electric and connected vehicles to advance in the race toward autonomous driving. Without making much noise, they have been overtaking other companies in this respect, and they have just announced that within a very short time it will have functional prototypes that will already offer this type of technology.

Huawei’s autonomous car, in 2025
The technology for developing the software aimed at artificial intelligence needed to control the vehicle autonomously, without human intervention, was already part of the Chinese company’s plans. But after the veto imposed by the Trump administration, Huawei began redirecting resources to this program. And this is important, since despite the loss of business, it has advanced considerably in this area.
In April it announced that it was investing one billion dollars in the development of electric and autonomous cars. It is carrying out this project together with companies such as the BAIC Group, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co, three well-known automotive groups in China.
In theory, the cars developed from this alliance will bear the Huawei badge and will be part of the range prepared to strengthen the brand. The goal is to remain one of the most important brands in China, capable of rivalling Xiaomi, the other Chinese corporation that wants to position itself in this market.
For now, according to Huawei’s announcement, it is expected that in 2025 there will be at least one electric model fully operational in terms of autonomous driving. It will also coincide with other similar projects being carried out by other companies with the same timeframe.
For now, that is all we know, so we will have to wait a little to see the direction in which the union of these companies moves to achieve a vehicle that will surprise us and allow them to lead a segment that will grow rapidly in just a few years.
