Hyundai and the five-litre V8 for the Genesis and the Equus

Can you already see that not everything from Eastern brands is alternative or urban-use cars? Hyundai is making waves today with an unofficial announcement that it would be developing a variant of its V8 engine with much more punch than usual, promising no less than 430 horsepower.
First of all, it should be said that Hyundai has not made any official statement on the matter; the news has come from an informal meeting with the press at its headquarters in Korea. So whether the specifications of that engine will prove accurate remains to be seen. For now, we have the figure of 430 hp, a 5-litre V8 engine, the engine of the Hyundai Genesis saloon with some tuning, 376 lb-ft at 5,000 RPM with a compression ratio of 11:1.
The new engine could be paired with an exclusive Hyundai transmission, an eight-speed gearbox of in-house development. The Genesis Coupe and the Equus would be the models that benefit most from the engine-gearbox combination in the near future, with a launch date that could be around mid-2011.
