Hyundai unveiled this morning at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul the new generation of the rear-wheel-drive premium saloon. Already available on the local market, the Hyundai Genesis will reach the main European markets over the course of next year.

The new Hyundai Genesis is the result of more than four years of development, during which the brand has invested close to 350 million euros. The company therefore expects it to be well received in the markets, with sales expectations of 62,000 units for next year: 32,000 in Korea and 30,000 abroad.

Let’s start with its dimensions. The new generation of the Hyundai Genesis measures 4,990 mm in length, with a total width of 1,890 mm and a height of 1,480 mm. Its wheelbase has been increased by 75 mm compared with the previous generation, reaching 3,010 mm, which improves interior comfort for its occupants. The Genesis is the first model from the brand to debut the “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0” concept, with which Hyundai aims to show us a simple and harmonious design.

The Hyundai Genesis stands out for its hexagonal front grille and lines that highlight the dynamic character of the model, ending in a rear with a fairly sporty design. On the technology side, the Korean brand has tried to incorporate new technologies that allow it to compete in the premium segment. Among these, the new CO2 cabin air quality sensor stands out, as does the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. All of this is complemented by blind-spot detection, a Head-Up Display, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Another new technology found in the new generation of the Hyundai Genesis is the HTRAC All-Wheel-Drive system, which keeps stability and rear-wheel traction under maximum control so the V6 and V8 engines can deliver their full potential. Although, without doubt, its reference market will be Korea, the brand will also try to consolidate itself in North America, the Middle East and Chinese markets. In addition, for the first time it will be seen in European and Russian markets.
