Is it a plane? No, it's a Bugatti Veyron at 396 km/h

We are sure that if we heard the sound of the video that accompanies this article without looking at the images, most of us would say the vehicle in the recording is, at the very least, a jet aircraft.

However, it is a Bugatti Veyron running along a road at almost its top speed.

Specifically, we are talking about a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Pur Blanc, a super-exclusive one-off edition, which fits the already legendary 8.0 W16 engine with 1,200 CV. The opportunity to see this beast of the asphalt running at such speeds was made possible at an event called the Sun Valley Road Rally, held in Idaho.

Monstrously fast, the Veyron Super Sport Pur Blanc has its top speed electronically limited to 415 km/h, a figure that gives the driver enough “room to maneuver” to overtake safely and push a little harder on any straight stretch.

Joking aside, this Veyron is one of the fastest vehicles on the planet, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds. With an absolutely enormous amount of technology, the Veyron has become a motoring legend in whatever edition it comes.

That said, things have not been all rosy for the Grupo Volkswagen, owner of Bugatti. Although the Bugatti Veyron has been a true benchmark for years, it has never sold as well as expected. Production of the Bugatti Veyron was limited from the outset to 450 units, and not all of them have been sold yet.

That is why Bugatti has released numerous special editions, with special trim and a high degree of personalization and exclusivity—some editions are limited to a really small number—in an attempt to sell the remaining units more easily.
We should also note that the successor to the Veyron, due in 2016, has been under development for some time now.
