Is the CUPRA Born already priced? Will it be more expensive than its sibling, the ID3?

CUPRA unveiled its new sporty compact only two days ago, leaving us on tenterhooks about the prices of the Born. But the last piece of information we were missing has arrived. The new CUPRA Born will be cheaper than its sibling within the group, the ID3.

The small Spanish compact looks set to possibly become one of the leaders of its segment, as it forms a very interesting package: a fully electric car, powerful, with a sporty focus and generous standard equipment and trim levels.

Although CUPRA plans to launch it from the second half of 2021, it has already made the prices and the full range that will make up the long-awaited Born family available on its configurator.

How much cheaper the Born prices will be

The entry version of the CUPRA Born family starts, as we already told you, with the 150 CV version and 310 Nm of torque. The 45 kWh battery in this version allows its electric motor to reach a range of up to 349 km. Its price starts at 31,600 euros before incentives. Its sibling, the ID3, starts from 32,240 euros, 640 euros more than CUPRA’s electric car.

The other option features the more powerful 204 CV variant and the same 310 Nm of torque as the previous version. Its electric motor draws power from a 58 kWh battery, with a longer range than the entry variant, up to 427 km. The price of this version is 36,720 euros.

But that’s not the end of it, as CUPRA has announced that from 2022 the e-Boost pack will be added, raising output to 232 CV for the small electric car and giving it a range of up to 540 km. A really good figure.

Extensive personalisation catalogue

The elements for building your own configuration, apart from the equipment versions we are going to discuss, are six colours with which to dress your CUPRA: Vapor Grey (included in the price), Glacial White (600 euros), Geyser Silver (600 euros), Quasar Grey (600 euros), Rayleigh Red (600 euros) and finally the attractive Aurora Blue (900 euros).

In addition to varying the body colour, CUPRA offers three upholsteries: SEAQUAL (standard), DINAMICA Granite Grey (1,170 euros) and DINAMICA Aurora Blue (1,910 euros).

Finally, within CUPRA’s optional catalogue for the Born there are wheels, of which there are five different designs. The 18-inch CYCLONE (standard), the 19-inch TYPHOON (950 euros), the 19-inch TYPHOON COOPER (990 euros), the 20-inch HURRICANE (1,100 euros) and finally the 20-inch BLIZZARD (1,500 euros).

Equipment and range of the Born

The equipment of the CUPRA Born is genuinely comprehensive, including standard 18-inch wheels, sports suspension, a 12-inch infotainment screen, Bucket seats, a heated steering wheel, electric mirrors, rain sensor and keyless start.

To this generous standard equipment are added three equipment packs:

The first is the Advanced. This equipment includes Navigation, predictive adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera, sign recognition, Light Assist and tinted glass. The price of this pack is 900 euros extra.

The second extra equipment pack is the Pro, which includes all the systems already mentioned in the Advanced pack except for the navigation system and the rear-view camera. To this is added a 360º camera, Side Assist (blind-spot sensor), Travel Assist, rear traffic alert (stops the vehicle if we are reversing and there is a vehicle or object), Emergency Assist, Parking Assistant and finally front electric seats, heated and with massage. Its price is 1,470 euros extra.

Lastly, CUPRA offers the Top pack. This includes all the equipment of the Pro pack and adds navigation, augmented reality Head-up Display, BEATS Audio sound system, panoramic glass roof, DCC dynamic chassis control and finally a windscreen with acoustic shield. The price of this pack is 3,745 euros extra.
