It's official: Luca de Meo is the new CEO of Renault
The rumours were true, and Luca de Meo has left SEAT to return to his roots as CEO of Renault, a position he will take up in the summer.

The rumours were true: Renault has a new captain at the helm, ready to lead it with diligence. In fact, just a few weeks ago, SEAT announced that Luca de Meo, the company’s president until not long ago, was leaving the helm of the Spanish firm to devote himself to personal projects. However, everything pointed to the Italian returning to one of his starting points, Renault, a brand he had already worked for in the past. Now, the French house once again has de Meo on its team, taking up the post of CEO.
Luca de Meo’s first steps in the industry took place at the firm with the rhombus, from which he moved to Toyota Europe before finally ending up leading a fellow Italian company, the Fiat Group. However, the peak of the Italian’s career came within Volkswagen, where in 2015 he became chairman of SEAT’s Executive Committee.
After five years leading the home-grown brand and CUPRA, de Meo officially announces his departure, which takes place by mutual agreement with the German group. For the time being, the brand remains without a captain, although Carsten Isensee, Vice President of Finance, remains as acting president, a role that will be handed over once SEAT concludes its search for a replacement for the Italian.

In the meantime, Renault is already making all the preparations to welcome Luca de Meo, who has been the ideal person to lead the French brand thanks to his professional career. However, it will not be until 1 July of this year that the new president of the rhombus brand begins his mandate.
Until then, Clotilde Delbos, CEO of Renault S.A. on an interim basis, will continue to carry out the functions that Luca de Meo will perform after his arrival. With this premise, the French firm will have a new path to follow that could bring us important novelties and drastic changes to the current model range, although we believe de Meo will remain quite faithful to the canons Renault has followed to date.

This is how the recently former president of SEAT returns to his beginnings in search of broadening his professional experience and collaborating with new brands. Although it will not be until well into the summer that Luca de Meo takes over the presidency of Renault, we can expect him to start working on new projects that will be implemented immediately after his arrival.
