Jaguar Land Rover wants its entire range electrified by 2025

Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that its path toward electrification will culminate in 2025, the year it expects to offer only electric models.

Jaguar and Land Rover, two brands that have gone through several stages while always producing vehicles worthy of admiration. However, times are changing and the need to adapt is palpable, and the English firms do not want to be left behind. With this premise, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it will be in 2025 when its range is completely electrified, developing entirely new vehicles and 100% electric variants of its combustion models, which have already shown their readiness by offering PHEV versions alongside the I-Pace, the first EV model from Jaguar.

And the English group is facing market trends, moving away completely from combustion except for its plug-in hybrid vehicles, whose trend will also be to disappear. With this premise, in the coming years we will witness a considerable change within Jaguar Land Rover, where models such as the aforementioned I-Pace, E-Pace or F-Pace -in their corresponding PHEV versions- are paving the way.

In this way, both Jaguar and Land Rover are preparing to wage a fierce battle with brands such as Tesla, which they had only targeted through their electric SUV. Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Audi will also be in the sights of the English company from an electric perspective, through a vehicle ready to challenge the Porsche Taycan, Mercedes-Benz EQS and Audi e-tron GT.

Land Rover will face the transition more slowly, as it currently has a smaller range of vehicles. However, the Defender PHEV is expected to be the one to mark this shift toward a complete renewal of its vehicle lineup, which will be orchestrated by 4x4s and SUVs with fully electric powertrains.

In this way, everything points to Jaguar meeting its goal in 2025, while Land Rover will do so with a certain lethargy. Either way, both companies are aware of this new wave and of these legislative and environmental changes, thus setting a new path that will be followed by more automotive groups.

Soon we will witness the first steps of Jaguar Land Rover toward this renewal of its model range and this new approach. And indeed, both firms will be among the first to take this step from combustion to fully electric, relegating the current options and completely discarding -or at least this seems to be the case at first- the plug-in hybrid versions with which they intended to safeguard combustion powertrains.
